Softball Commissioner’s Letter

Welcome to the 2008 season!   

I grew up in Folsom and played for the “old” FAA and I know first hand the extent of change over the years. You will not be disappointed by our softball program nor our coaches, who strive to give the girls the foundation to build a strong learning experience and love of softball.  We all have a very strong commitment to our community youth.

I began volunteering as an Asst Coach for Tee Ball in 1999 with my daughter, Shannon, and continued as Asst thru 2002.  In 2002 I briefly returned to Tee Ball to coach my daughter, Samantha, and act as Tee Ball Commissioner.  I returned to U10 softball in 2005 and was lucky enough to be Coach to both daughters on the same team!  In 2005 I became the Softball Commissioner for Folsom.  This season I will continue as Coach in the U10’s and when available, Asst with Shannon’s U14 team.

Our softball program at Folsom is truly exceptional and improves yearly.  In 2006 our U10 All Star Tournament team finished as a finalist in the Babe Ruth District #3 Tournament -- a 1st for  the Folsom U10’s.  Over the past 4-5 years, at least 1-3 of our softball teams have won championships.   The FAA continues to provide opportunities to improve the abilities of our softball pitchers by sharing the costs of pitching clinics with parents so as to provide the best training possible to our players! 

With the Rookies and U10’s, we concentrate on teaching fundamentals, sportsmanship and teamwork.  We believe strongly that the only way a child improves in softball is to play more and in Folsom, we stress that all children get equal playing time.  At the U12 and U14/16 levels, we believe that our program is the stepping stone to each child’s high school softball experience and we try to prepare them as best as possible by teaching a more advanced program.  It is very important to build team unity, integrity and “heart“.
